Journal of Funnies

Boy my blog has exploded the last little bit! Sorry! Lots to say I guess. But I've got to do this now:

When we were kids, my mom kept this notebook called, "the Journal of Funnies". It was an old red notebook where she would jot down funny things we would say so she wouldn't forget. It was a brilliant idea, as some funny things kids say, get immortalized and told over and over, but many are forgotten days later and lost forever. This notebook is still pulled out every now and then when a group of us are together and we laugh and laugh and laugh at the memories.
I was talking to her a day or two ago and she told me it was time I bought myself a notebook and started one, as Scout is well in the age where one is appropriate, and I had just shared a funny story about what she said, and how I have my first entry. Well, I think I will buy one, but I may as well have a cyber one too. It's the 21st century and all and I happen to have this blog around. About an hour after this conversation with my mom, Scout said something that should be entry #2. Here they are to start it off!

Scout - almost 3
We were looking at a Planet Earth book she has and we were turned to a page about reindeer. I said, "guess what reindeer do?" She asked what, so I told her that they pull Santa's sleigh. She said, "No they don't!"
"Yes they do" I argued, "if reindeer don't do it, then what pulls Santa's sleigh?"
She thought long and hard about that. Then she says, "a witch!"

Scout - 3
We were rummaging through boxes looking for a book for Rob, and Scout found a box of her old baby toys. She was still looking and pulling out old stuff and having the time of her life. So I went upstairs and went in the bedroom. Rob was across the hall in the office and Scout comes upstairs and goes into the office and holds up a set of those pastel, plastic, over sized keys every baby in the world has and tells Rob, "look dad, I found my stupid car keys".

Hee hee. That's my fault. I guess every time I mention my car keys, they are lost and I'm looking for them, and are therefore, "stupid".

Yay!! Journal of Scout Funnies. Makes me want to go look for Booker's. That is so funny about the stupid car keys. It reminds you of how aware of EVERYTHING the youngens are.

Holy cow, I just found the Scout Tracker. I didn't know to what Sue was referring to when she mentioned it. She was Booker yesterday, how cute.

I just got out the journal of funnies I've been keeping on my cats. There is a really funny entry. August 16, 2007, Pedro walked in the living room and said "meow". Oh how Cam and I laughed.

Sorry, just had to make a joke there. I love the journal of funnies. One of my favorites that mom wrote down is when Cat suddenly yelled "I smell doll pee!"

Oh my goodness, I just laughed so hard at your comment Sue! That was great. We have a journal of funnies too, it is really fun to go back and read them.

Haley= my favorite of your family's journal is when Sarah asked your mom why grandpa had a hole in his big girl pants.

And Sue, did a similar thing happen on July 22nd too?

I love that car keys story. Awesome! And what a great idea. I need to get me a notebook and start writing some funnies.

Is Scout referring to Trisha when she says Orange Kitten? Orange Kitten is a nick-name I often use for Trisha. I pretty much call her that more than I do Trisha.

Ok, so the emily without the picture must be Emily Petersen. It's all coming together...

PS. Why is there a handicapped sign after the word verification thing?? does anyone else have this? Orrr...

Emily said...

You got it, matt. Can be a tad confusing, so the Scout pick helps. I love how Scout shouts at everyone everytime I post. It makes me happy.

Emily said...

Funny as that would be though Matt, I think everyone gets the handicapped sign. I pushed it out of curiosity just now, and I think the devil spoke to me (in female form).

Sue said...

I just pushed the handicap thing too! What the??? Was there a lot of background noise on yours Em? I was thinking it must be for blind people, but then, how would they know to push the button?

Matt said...

I pushed it just for the heck of it right after posting that comment, and I almost had to go read my scriptures before driving home.

Sue said...

Oh my gosh Matt, I just laughed so hard at your last comment. I also love that you thought maybe only you had the handicap sign.

I wonder if we all get our own personal satanic message? I think we would have to play it backwards or something.

Sue said...

Wouldn't it be creepy if we played it backwards and it said "good luck, bart luck".

Journal of Funnies is the best idea. Keep it handy and write them immediately, cause trust me, you will forget soon. They get even funnier over the years. Scout is so funny and adorable. She will be full of great additions to your journal!
