2013 Oscar Confidence List

 

It's that time once again folks and I'm getting my picks listed just under the wire.  I did surprisingly well last year therefore I have nowhere to go but down (I scored a 238 getting my entire top ten right).  I've missed seeing a lot of the top contenders this year, but did manage to watch all but one of the documentaries up (didn't see The Gatekeepers) and I watched all of the animated shorts for the first time ever, so I was able to make an intelligent decision on that category for once.  Not convinced it will help.  
Ah well, cheers and happy Oscars.

Oh- this year I decided to make my official pick and score it in order, but also next to it will be my personal pick, but I am not doing the 300 score thing for my personal picks.  So this year my heart and my head are going to duke it out.  Should be interesting.  (for two categories when it came to my personal choice, I had a tie between two movies, so if either happens to be the winner, I will score myself 1/2 a point).

This is how scoring works:(I'm doing the Movie BS scoring again this year- lots of fun)

And my winner of heart vs. head is: my head (as is the way of the world)

Funny calling this a confidence list- I feel decidedly unconfident about the lot.  Unusually so.

My 2012 Oscar Predictions

This is my prediction list for The Oscars, a game I've done the last two years with the movie podcast, Movie BS.

This is how it works:

I did this last year and it made watching The Oscars so fun, so I was definitely interested in doing it again.  (I did terrible, getting 133 points).  All I can hope for is beating myself this year.

My Oscar "confidence list"

Just for fun, a movie podcast I listen to (Movie BS) is doing an interesting Oscar predictions system that I couldn't resist. You make your predictions, then list them in the order of picks you are most confident. There are 24 categories, so the pick you are most confident in, you can give yourself 24 points if you're right. The pick you are least confident in (in my case, I have never heard of any of the documentary shorts, so I had to take a total stab in the dark) you only get a point. Therefore, it's cool, cause one point? Meh.

*my only real pick that came totally from my heart - favorite movie of the year-- had to do it.
So that's that. My prediction really, is that I do terrible.

Also- I SWEAR "What Emily's Been Watching" January edition is coming really soon, it's half written, I've just been lazy. I will work on it during the Oscars and post it tonight. That's a promise.
