Elinor Vs. The Pacifier

Ah the perplexities of the artificial nipple.

lol, that was pretty darn cute. she has such beautiful eyes!!

walter never got the hang of pacifiers at all, and i gave up, hoping that i was just saving myself some trouble later on. but i will admit to moments of jealousy every time i saw some other little baby peacefully and quietly sucking on their pacifier. walter was not really ever a peaceful and/or quiet baby!

Pretty cute. She seemed to have fun twirling it around in her hand and seemed to want the other side of it more. I think I would have died if my babies didn't like pacifiers. She's so darn cute!

Cute kid! funny clip of the chupete and ellie. In Uruguay they called them chupete. chupar, verb to suck. not sure the spelling is correct, it's been a long time. From that experience I have always had a thing against them, for down there they seemed to use them until the kids were 12 or 13 years old. I agree they are great if used with prudence.

It's funny to me because she actually doesn't reject it, she just plain doesn't get it. She wants to, but just can't figure it out. I was really upset at first that she wouldn't take one, but things will be ok I think. Scout loved it from day one and it was really nice. She would get to the point where it was obvious a nap was in order and you put binky in there and her eyes would instantly shut. But I agree dad, nothing I hate worse then seeing a 2 year old with a binky in her mouth. We took Scout's at 11 months and naps were trouble for a few weeks (in hindsight, I may have let her have them for naps only for a little longer -6 months?- but I guess we just ripped the bandaid off and lived through it just fine), but other then getting her to nap, no big deal. Right away we noticed a difference with night time wake ups. From first night on, she was fine without it and I never had to wake up just to put binky in mouth- which brings us to Elinor. She falls asleep with those light little receiving blankets on her face, she sucks on them and just likes them at her mouth, anyway she sleeps right through the night every single night- Scout was a good sleeper, but Elle has her beat already.
And I think we all know how quiet she is anyway, so there isn't that factor either.

Bottles on the other hand-- I am still on a quest to find one she can figure out and will accept.

Oh, and if anyone was wondering what was up with the Neil Diamond arm- that is the hand that grasps my shirt while she nurses.

Haha about Neil Diamond arm! Allison would do that when she nursed too. It did seem that Elinor just plain doesn't get the concept of the binky! Like the texture is weird to her or something. So funny, well at least she is fine without it! I have been thinking about weening Allison from the binky. She only needs it to fall asleep. I despise seeing kids over like 18 months with binkies in their mouths when they are perfectly happy. It just bugs me for some reason. Once Allison is totally out cold the binky falls out and she will stay asleep. Maybe one of these days I will just stop giving it to her and see how we do. I'm a little scared though....

Me? What was funny?

That was my friend Emily (if Emily is not accompanied by a yelling Scout, it is my friend, not me). So I think she was talking about me, but I am not sure what she found so funny- perhaps just the artificial nipple comment.

Hehehe, I just watched this again. I love it. She wants to get it, but she just doesn't! I also love the chunky little Neil Diamond arm.

Ahh I forgot about the two Emily's. Thanks. I was so confused!
