What the Bip??*

Is it just me or these the most hideous things on the planet?

I can't even imagine a world where someone thinks these are cute/marketable/worth-shelling-out-twice-as-much-money-as-regular-diapers. But hey- maybe it's just me. I got an ad for them in the mail today along with some valuable coupons. On the cover of the ad was a picture of the scariest looking baby I've ever seen. I turned it over to the picture (for the first time) and had to stifle a scream.
Anyway, all in all it was a very traumatic mailer.
Except for the coupons,
I'll use those --

(for regular Winne the pooh diapers thank you).

Ok, so here is that second picture I referred to in the ad -the one that almost made me scream (old man/baby hybrid)
Are the Huggies execs that are in charge of advertising on crack?

*I realize that "What the Bip" is usually reserved for my family's weekly movie quote game posts on The Kids Were All Wright, but I thought these diapers deserved a giant WTB?
(please don't sue me TKWAW)

Holy. That could be the cover of a bad 80's alien movie. Maybe it's so that the tops will blend in with your child's designer jeans? Which is dumb, because I personally am a huge fan of a little bit of diaper sticking out over the pants. And diaper bums in general.

I got the same coupons today and I thought the same thing!!! WHAT THE BIP!!?? Are they really double the cost, who would do that?? They cost enough as it is!

That kid looks like a hick, there is a hint of a mullet and the grey sweatshirt, wow.

Oh my Gosh!! What the BIP is right! What will they think of next? I am sure there will be a market for them with yuppies who want designer stuff for their babies but crazy!!! I think they are so ugly and the kid is dorkey looking! Also I don't like seeing babies just in diapers all the time and if you are going to spend the dough to show them off then there will be lots of naked babies running around!

complete with a little circle skoal outline on the back pocket...how precious.

Yes Haley- you will be shelling out $20 for a pack of these beauties (although I suppose you won't be). Did the kid on the cover scare you too? I thought it was a mix of a baby and an old man and it seriously freaked me out for a second.
I looked online for a pic of these diapers and found a few but none that did the justice to these things as the mailer did, so I had to take a picture of the mailer pic and put it up here. He is supposed to be so chic that he has the paparazzi following him (that is what all that is in the background- people and cameras).

I can't believe these things exist and they aren't an SNL commercial like those thong diapers (remember those? Haha!)

Ha! I agree with everything said. Scary pic of that airbushed kid and what the bip? Are there really people out there in chic, snooty land that says..."I wish we could get Levi looking diapers for our little buckaroo. That would be so cute!" Good one, Rob, for the Skoal circle barb. Also I thought about the kid having a mullet or at least he looks like he would wear one if he had hair. Very wierd stuff. I am glad we are all on the same page on this issue.

Ha...W.V. scandork

That's it! I'm having a kid just so I can get these diapers.

It just occurred to me that I got an invitation to a baby shower yesterday. My friend's teenage son got a girl pregnant and it's going to be a boy. They are calling him their "little rocker". On the front of the invitation there is a picture of the sonogram and then they added a picture of an electric guitar with wings coming out of it and it says "Born to Rock". Then, on the inside there are a bunch of ACDC logos and skulls. Yep, you can't make that shit up. Sorry, had to say shit, it just seems appropriate.

My verification word is xytic-probably what they are going to name the little rocker.

I meant to add in the above comment that these diapers seem exactly what this couple would want. That was my whole reason for telling you about it. Although I probably would have told you about it anyway.

Haley said...

Wow. That's all I have to say is wow.

Emily said...

Yikes Sue, but maybe it's kismet- now you have a baby shower gift idea.

Haley said...

HAHAHAHAHA! But should we encourage them and endorse this awful idea??

Emily said...

Sorry but I have now subjected you all to the second picture. Sorry if you have nightmares.

I can't believe this! That is the worst advertisement I've ever seen. Agree with all comments, just one thing to add that no one has mentioned. Even the way the kid is standing is just terrible. It just goes with the whole tacky, redneck, 80's crap that I guess they were going for. I'm afraid I just might see a few of those diapers around here. Hope not, but a possibility. Sue, your friends invitation sounds like the worst thing ever! Poor baby, born to rock. How about, "born to BE rocked"? I like that better. I feel sorry for the kid.

Haley said...

WOW. I was wondering what picture you were talking about. I don't think that is in mine....

Whoa. That is the craziest thing ever. I have thankfully not received this mailer. I would have had to throw it down the incinerator, if I had one. :) I agree; I can't believe this isn't a SNL ad like those edible diapers. GROSS! But funny. :)

Like your"Born to be rocked" comment Amy. Very sad they seem to have priorities wrong. You are right though they would probably love these as a gift!Very funny the name comment too Sue:) I would be curious to find out if these end up selling and what they do end up naming him.

I was in smiths in Riverton Friday and saw these diapers in an end cap. They were in packages of four (4) for $8.99. That's a little over 2 dollars a diaper. I haven't bought diapers in a while, but that seems pretty expensive to me.

Emily said...

That's insane! Diapers are about .27 each.

Yesterday I was back at the same Smiths and saw the diapers were priced at $9.79 for a 4 pac. With tax that is $2.50 each for you BYU grads.
