I am now armed with an induction date-- it's Friday. Later, Rob and I realized that's the 18th. That would put mine and Scout's and Ella's birthday's on 18s.
(and John Travolta).

Darn! I was hoping LK would have a 'birthday buddy!' :) But, having kids have the same number bday is fun... LK and Scotch are both 15's.

Those are really sweet pictures of Scoutie. Is she still sick; hence the uneaten plate of food?

Good Luck! What time so I can be sending good thoughts to you. I hope Scout isn't still sick too. Hang in there! HUGS from Nurse Jeanine

Yeah, although it isn't too bad. The last two days she gets a fever around 230 or 3 and one dose of Tylenol knocks it out the rest of the day and I give her motrin at bedtime and it doesn't come back all night or all morning (until about 230ish, as I stated). Not really any other symptoms. In the middle of the night I came down with the dry and scratchy throat, but it hasn't bothered me all day. I suspect it is a cold, but am wondering a little if it is a UTI and my dry throat was unrelated.

I'm reading your last comment, Emily and it says "she gets a fever around 230" And I'm thinking 230 is pretty high for a fever. hehe on me.

Wait another day....19, Sept is Duncan's birthday. he will be 11.

That's so cute that Scout is using Elinor's things. It's like she fell asleep waiting for her, so cute! I hope your induction goes better than mine!

Cat - about the food, yes her appetite does wain a bit with sickness, and that was during fever time, but, more often then not- when she asks for food, she is asleep within minutes. Rob and I think it goes back to the old days where comfort comes from a baa baa (or momma nursing her). She gets sleepy and wants a bit of comfort. Hence comfort food I guess.

Dad- uh, I think I would be fairly alarmed with a 230 degree fever, that's a touch high. She went all the way to 102 with this illness, but only once, it is typically around 100 this time around.

Haley- I have a lot of hope that my induction will go well. While they explained to me the slight increase in c sections with inductions, they also commented that I have already shown myself to be a fine laborer naturally, therefore my risk is even lower. Frankly, I am surprised your doctor ok'ed an induction on a first time mom on her due date. I know you were having a lot of contractions and stuff, but as I understand it, they don't do that for first timers until you are well over a week overdue. What was their explanation in doing it? (Just to satisfy my curiosity.)

And dad, I know how much you love Duncan, but personally, I have no interest in Ells and Duncan sharing a birthday. Not enough to postpone the birth anyway.

I was two days overdue when they induced me and I was starting contractions on my own. The decision was really up to us. They wouldn't do it until my due date and I was two days after. If I could do it ever again, I wouldn't have done it. I would have just let it go until a week past my due date and then do it. I did it because of my false labor contractions all day and all night and also because my family was going to be here that weekend and that was pretty much the only time they could come. So one of those things I semi-regret. I really wish I didn't have to have a c-section, if it was my last baby I really wouldn't care, the pain is livable. My biggest worry is the next pregnancies and births. I'm afraid that I'm going to have a limit on how many I can have. If that's how it is then I guess that's how it is supposed to be. I just feel like it is my fault because I went ahead with the induction. My labor was progressing pretty good until my epidural, so maybe that's what stopped it. It is just a big mystery to me on what is going to happen with the next ones. Sorry for the novel, "Confessions of a C-Sectioned Mom." I hope yours goes well, I'm sure it will since A: you have already had a baby, and B:you had an epidural and it didn't stop your labor, and C: you are at or passed your due date, so I think you will be fine! I'm so excited to see little Ells finally!! I'm sure you are ready to be done being pregnant, it sure gets uncomfortable there at the end. Ok, I will stop now.

The 19th is our Anniversary, too. And it was Grandpa & Grandma Wright's too. But I totally understand. I think having the 3 girls in your family all born on the 18th is really cool.

Haley- I thought for some reason it was your due date. It's too bad how it ended up, but you may have had the same result with natural labor, who knows. I know epidurals stop labor in some women, but I went from a 4 to a 10 instantly after my epidural, so hopefully that happens again. They made me wait at that point for an hour or two (I don't remember, I know I napped) for the doctor, so I could have had Scout in even less time (6 or 7) hours from start to finish. Because of the short amount of time, I am kind of relieved to have an induction since cutting that time in half (which is what they say to do with your second labor) is cutting it a little close! I would hate to make the local news.

Bean report:
We took her to the doctor today and she has a UTI. She has been fever free since Wed, but had some lingering telltale "urine" issues so we took her in and sure enough. So, she is now on antibiotics and is feeling good and on the mend.

Welcome to the world, Elinor. We are all so glad to have you in our family and wish you love, health and happiness. Your parents are the best and you better listen to them or I'll thump you on the ear. Love, Gramps Wright
