Scout's Birthday

So Scout's birthday was like a year ago, but I still want to write about it.
Her birthday fell on a Wednesday, and Scout and I met up with Bruce, Annabelle and Emily at the zoo. They had a blast and Bruce and Scout ran wild and Emily and I did our best to keep up with them. Scout got to ride the brand new carousel for the first time which was very exciting to her, she chose the gorilla (my girl). We also were sure to ride the train

After the zoo, I took her to Jungle Jim's Playland ala last year. She enjoyed it just as much or more. We did not stay long as there was still lots of celebrating to do! We went to my work and picked up Omar. He is a little boy that you will find hanging out in the break room more often then not in the summer time as his mom and dad both work in the kitchen. He is one of the sweetest well mannered little boys you will ever come across and Scout loves him. So we picked him up and took him to the park. They had a lot of fun and found some abandoned chalk and pretended to be pirates and made X's all over the cement to mark their treasure. Rob pointed out that Scout had two dates on her birthday. It isn't my fault we don't know any little girls right now!

The kids asked to go to McDonald's, so I obliged. Then we dropped Omar back off to the RCC and Scout and I got home and daddy had a present waiting for her. A Magnadoodle, she has never had one and just loves it. Daddy is cute that he went to the store and bought her a surprise. We weren't really going to do gifts that day since we had a big birthday party planned for that Saturday. Scout got her favorite dinner that night, egg drop soup, and that was about it.
That Friday night, Grandma and Grandpa Wright and Matt and B came into town just for Scout's birthday party. We planned a party in the park complete with party hats and noise makers (Scout mentioned those two things every time the party was mentioned) so I felt I had to. Grandpa Pugh and Aunts Cath and Sue came, along with Booker. It was a fun party. We had oriental chicken salads, another favorite of Scouts, although she didn't eat one bite. Too much fun to be had to think of food. Then she opened presents, including a new dolly stroller and dolly, trains and tracks, a 6 foot blow up monkey, and a new tricycle.Oh yes, and of course..........cake!

We came back to the house and continued the party by laughing and talking as only the Wright family can do, then went to El Azteca for dinner. Then we kind of split up and Matt when skating with his friends and was going to stay the night with some of them, Sue Cath and Booker went home, and me Scout mom dad and B went to the mall to go shopping. B stayed over and we had a girl's night by watching The Dick Van Dyke Show and eating cookies. I have introduced B to that show and she is loving it and I am so happy to introduce another soul into the wonderful world of Rob and Laura Petrie. I sent her home loaded with a few of my tapes so she may continue to enjoy it. And, well that's about it. That is how Scout turned 3.

Yay new blog!! I am so happy you've introduced me to the world of Rob and Laura Petrie too!!! I totally agree with Susies MySpace comments, Stacie (weirdest name for a guy EVER) Petrie/Jerry Van Dyke is BRILLIANT!! HAHA, he impersonates himself, I love it!! And then he pretends to be James Garner, and that girl freaks out on him, and the part where his pants fall apart in front of Sally, oh my gosh!! I thought I might die laughing. So I am out of shows now, I've watched all of them, and I think maybe I should start all over and make Matt watch all of them now! Scout's adorable, we all just watched Kiki's slide show again, and I think you all owe us a trip up to Riverton. Pwease?? And when are you guys moving into your new house?

Love B

Hehe. So on Scout's cake...was that Scout with Bruce or with Omar? Just kidding. Yes, I was wondering the same thing as B, when are you moving?

Heehee, I am going to have to say, Scout with Bruce since they have been unofficially betrothed since birth. Omar and Scout call each other "best friends" plus Omar is a tad old for her.
We can move anytime, but this week is out since Rob has a major paint job to finish by friday and we don't need that added stress. Next week is Mulligan at the Country Club which is the biggest event and tournament of the year there, so I am sort of thinking maybe after Mulligan, but we may get too impatient and I will end up just dealing with both things at the same time. We'll see. At any rate soon! But not soon enough in some ways.

That is so cute about the "best friends." Oh yeah, I heard about that arranged marriage, that's funny. That would be cute if it really did happen because you would have pictures of them as kids. That's too bad you guys are so busy, I bet you are so excited! Well good luck! Moving is such a pain!

YES I want to! We were actually just talking about that tonight and scheming a little plan that we should all go to Barnes & Noble that night and get it! I guess that would be friday night, the 1st. That would be so fun!! You in??

Oh and PS...I was looking through pics on Sarah's camera today and came across the cutest pic of Scout EVER while you guys were at the Cheesecake Factory. I will definitely have to email that to you. It's adorable.

I totally in! I have had that book reserved on Amazon forever and looked it up a few days ago and it said estimated time of arrival: Aug 7-11 and I was like oh, heck no! There is no way, the book was only $12, but that doesn't make up for waiting a week. I was just wondering what I was going to do. Sarah did the same thing, she may want to cancel hers too. I bought the 7th Harry Potter from Amazon and they did free shipping and guaranteed arrival on release date. I thought they would do something like that, they should have, given the popularity. They asked my reasons behind the cancellation, and I told them just that!

That picture of Scout on the train is so cute! She looks like she couldn't be happier. Speaking of pictures. I looked at the rest of the pictures you posted and we need to have a rule! No taking pictures while people are eating! There is a picture of me and it looks like I'm about to devour a huge thing of whip cream! It's a napkin! There was plenty of time we were just sitting around and talking.

If you guys dress up as vampires and werewolves at Barnes and Nobles that night, then you are the nerdiest nerds I've ever nerd. You can never give me crap about my love for Lord of the Rings.

Oh, we have already worked it all out and I can't wait to see Haley's werewolf costume, it's going to be sweet.

I'll miss you Sue.

Oh wait, you didn't disown us, we just lost the privilege of giving you crap about your Lord of the Rings geekiness.
What if we don't dress up? I'm NOT making any promises, just wondering where we stand on the nerd o meter.

Holy Smokes, why didn't I get invited to come dress up for Barnes and Noble? I'd like to be the English teacher, Mrs. Whats-her-name or her friend Lauren, both of whom are barely mentioned in the entire series. Wouldn't that be awesome? No one would be the wiser :)
Also, the pictures of the zoo are so cute! I love the one of Scout and Bruce sitting on the log or whatever, smiling at each other, gazing into one another's eyes:)
It looks like Miss Scout had herself a very Happy Birthday!

Even going to Barnes and Noble the day the book goes on sale pretty much puts you high up on the nerd-o-meter. Dressing up goes over the top. The Phisters aren't coming to Salt Lake for that are they? If they do, I just might have to disown them. Between that and traveling long distances for American Idol concerts, I just don't know what to do.

No no no, they are coming here to go to the Opera. Which makes them classy, well-educated nerds. This all started because Haley is flying out to Oregon from Salt Lake on the 2nd and I asked her if she was buying Breaking Dawn before she left so she would have reading material for the plane.

As for going to the "release party", well I (and I really don't expect any redemption here) but sometimes it is kind of fun to get caught in the middle of a pop cultural phenomenon. On a lesser (a far, far less cool) scale kind of a "I was at Woodstock" thing. I am not there for the party, I just want to see it.

And, I want to book as soon as possible.
