A Grudging Entry in the Journal of Funnies

Rob and I are standing in the kitchen and Scout comes in

Scout: Mom! Daddy is the king, and I am the Princess.
Me: So I'm the Queen?
Scout: No. You are the cow.

(Props to Rob for not laughing too hard and insisting to Scout that I was the Queen)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Scout!! That is the funniest thing I've heard all week!!!! I told this to Amy, and she told me of an incident when Sarah was five and saw one the old Charlie's Angels on TV. She said "She's pretty. I want her for my mommy and you for my grandma." What are they thinking!!!

Ya that one hurt. It was Jaqueline Smith and I've always thought she was really pretty, too, but I was not OK with being replaced by her! She still wanted me in her life, just wanted a prettier mom I guess. Kids can take you down a notch or two! I think Sarah's changed her mind though now. Sounds like Rob handled it well. Don't take it too personal, Em!

That story about Sarah is so funny! I have never heard it.
I didn't take what Scout said personally. I might have if she was 15 or something, but her little innocent mind obviously had something in mind when she said that. She always knows exactly where she is going in these little scenarios and in this one there was a king, a princess and a cow. Furthermore, she has no idea of the concept that a cow has bad connotations. In was just a funny thing.

My stomach hurts from laughing at both stories! Scout is hilarious, and Sarah was a pretty funny kid too. I'm glad you're not taking it personally Em, because it is really funny. Maybe she watched some show and the queen wasn't nice, so she didn't want you to be the queen.

It's funny what their minds come up with! They are so honest and blunt but also innocent at the same time. Good job Em for not taking it personally and deciphering it into "Scout language." That is so funny though. I wonder what my daughter will say about me....

That is awesome. Scout is one funny gal. And I like that story about Sarah ready to replace Amy with a Charlie's Angel. I love it!
P.S. Just the other day at breakfast, we were asking Annabel who that boy sitting next to her was. "Bruce Kim" she replied. "And what does Bruce look like?" "A cow." Of course, he was wrapped up in a cow blanket at the time. Good stuff.
